What kind of window to choose?
Window joinery plays different roles depending on the room in which it is mounted. Here is a small list of window types and their suitability in a particular room.
What window size to choose?
- In the bathroom or toilet, our goal is to maintain a certain level of privacy. Perfect woodwork? A small opening placed at a height, equipped with non-transparent glazing or blackout blinds.
- The opening of the bedroom must guarantee a good level of soundproofing. Therefore, it is worth choosing a triple-glazed window, especially if the house is located in a noisy area. In summer, the tilt opening is ideal to let some air in the bedroom while protecting it from outside intrusion.
- In the kitchen, a sliding window is ideal because it saves space, especially if the room is small and every centimeter counts.
- In the living room, the window must be able to bring maximum brightness into the room. With this in mind, we advise you to choose a sliding patio door (if possible), or a large window with maximum glazing.
How to determine the window size? It is a very simple: just take the dimensions of the frame. A frame mounted in the wall houses window wings (its moving parts).
As an indication, the glass surface should be about 15% of the room area if we want to get maximum brightness. To determine the ideal dimensions of the woodwork, we advise you to take into account the configuration, as well as the dimensions of a given room or wall.
The role of window joinery is to provide protection against external factors, such as temperature fluctuations or burglary attempts. In this and respects, not every joinery is created equal: you can choose the degree of thermal insulation of your windows, as well as the degree of their anti-burglary protection. However, price differences can be very high.
