The hardware that finishes the front door
The slab of the door does the heavy lifting on security and thermal performance, but the hardware is what visitors see and touch. A heavy brass knocker on a Georgian timber door, a matt-black pull bar across a contemporary grey composite, a polished chrome lever set on a hybrid front door: small details that add up to whether the entrance looks finished or generic.
We supply and fit door furniture within an 80 km radius of our Rushden showroom, with UK-wide delivery for supply-only orders. Hardware comes in marine-grade stainless steel, solid brass, PVD-coated finishes and traditional plated options, with up to 10-year guarantees on the more durable specs.
Door handles and pull bars
Finishes include brushed steel, matt black, polished chrome, satin gold, antique brass and graphite.
Door knockers
Three main styles cover most properties. Urn knockers suit period homes and pair well with brass or aged bronze finishes. Ring knockers work on Georgian and Victorian terraced houses, with the heavier weight giving them a satisfying sound. Contemporary minimalist knockers in stainless steel or matt black suit modern composite and hybrid doors.
Letterplates
Letterplates handle daily use, weather resistance, and (where building regulations require) brush seals and flap closure for fire and thermal performance.
Door numbers and letters
Precision-cut house numbers and letters come in stainless steel, brass, matt-black and satin gold finishes matching the rest of the hardware. Surface-fixed mounting with hidden screws is standard. Bevelled and engraved options are available for higher-end specifications.
Security hardware and smart locks
The security category covers everything working alongside the main multi-point lock: 3-Star Ultion cylinders, anti-snap escutcheons, security chains, door restrictors and reinforced strike plates. Smart locks add keypad, fingerprint or Bluetooth entry alongside the standard cylinder, with physical key backup so the security spec doesn’t depend on battery life.
Materials that handle UK weather
Hardware on the front door faces more weather exposure than almost anything else on the property. The materials matter as much as the visual finish.
Cheaper electroplated finishes often show wear within a few years on exposed elevations, which is why we don’t supply those as standard.
Composite doors are equally well suited to traditional and contemporary hardware options. Most installations use polished chrome, satin steel or matt black.
uPVC doors usually pair best with stainless steel, chrome and matt black. The smoother profile reads more modern, so contemporary finishes coordinate better than heavy brass.
Wooden doors look their best with traditional solid brass, aged bronze and forged iron. The natural grain pairs well with hardware that shows its age.
Hybrid doors work well with matt-black, graphite, brushed steel and matching aluminium finishes, prioritising clean lines over decorative detail.
We supply door handles, including lever sets, pull bars and paddle handles, as well as knockers in urn, ring and contemporary styles. We also supply letterplates, house numbers and letters, security hardware such as cylinders, escutcheons, chains and restrictors, plus smart locks with keypad, fingerprint or Bluetooth entry.
Available finishes include brushed steel, matt black, polished chrome, polished brass, satin gold, aged bronze, antique brass, graphite and matching aluminium finishes. Matt black on contemporary grey doors, polished chrome on white doors, and solid brass on period timber doors are the most-requested combinations.
Yes. Matching sets across handles, knockers, letterplates and house numbers come in coordinating finishes. RAL colour matching is available for selected painted hardware where you want a specific shade rather than a metal finish.
Marine-grade stainless steel, solid brass and PVD-coated finishes resist salt air, rain and UV exposure for decades. We don't supply cheaper electroplated finishes as standard because they tend to show wear within a few years on exposed elevations.
Yes. Marine-grade stainless steel, solid brass and PVD-coated finishes come with guarantees of up to 10 years covering manufacturing defects and finish degradation under normal use.
Yes. UK-wide delivery covers the full hardware range. This is suitable for trade installers, self-fit DIY projects and customers outside the local fitting area.
Yes. Keypad entry, fingerprint scanners and Bluetooth-controlled systems are available. These work alongside the standard cylinder lock for physical key backup, so the security spec doesn't depend on battery life or app connectivity.
