Windows Guarantees at Homeefe: Ensuring Peace of Mind with Every Purchase

What’s covered, for how long, and how it works

A window guarantee turns a risky one-off installation into a comfortable long-term commitment. The right cover means you can pick up the phone years later if something goes wrong, with the work handled at no additional cost.

This page covers exactly what comes with every Homeefe window installation, what’s included as standard, and what optional protection you can add for extra peace of mind. Available within our 80 km installation radius covering Northamptonshire and surrounding counties.

Homeefe window guarantees at a glance

Every window we install comes with the following cover as standard:

  • 10-year guarantee on the window frame and components across uPVC, aluminium and timber
  • 5-year guarantee on sealed glass units against premature seal failure
  • 2-year guarantee on operating hardware including hinges, handles and locks
  • FENSA certificate confirming compliance with UK Building Regulations
  • Insurance-Backed Guarantee protecting your investment for the duration of the cover
  • Consumer Rights Act 2015 statutory protection on top of the manufacturer guarantees

All the certification paperwork gets supplied at handover. Keep it with your house documents since it’s often requested during conveyancing when you sell.

The 10-year frame guarantee

The headline cover protects the main structural elements of the window assembly:

  • Frame integrity against splitting, warping, corrosion or structural failure
  • Powder-coated finish on aluminium frames against fading or coating failure
  • Foil-applied finish on uPVC frames against discolouration or peeling
  • Multi-chamber construction against thermal break failure on aluminium
  • Joint integrity at the corners and welds across the assembly
  • Weather seal integration with the wall opening and surrounding structure

The 10-year cover applies equally across uPVC, aluminium and timber window ranges. Timber windows have additional considerations around natural material movement that we cover during the survey.

The 5-year sealed glass unit guarantee

Sealed glass units are the part of a window most likely to fail before the rest of the assembly. The 5-year cover protects against:

  • Premature seal failure with moisture appearing between the panes
  • Argon gas loss that would reduce thermal performance
  • Spacer bar failure at the perimeter of the sealed unit
  • Low-E coating failure on the inner surface of the glazing
  • Edge delamination on laminated glass configurations

A modern sealed glass unit typically lasts 15 to 25 years before any natural seal degradation, so the 5-year guarantee covers any premature failures.

The 2-year hardware guarantee

Operating hardware sees the most wear and tear of any window component. The 2-year cover protects:

  • Hinges and friction stays against premature wear or operational failure
  • Handles and operating mechanisms against breakage or jamming
  • Multi-point locking systems against mechanical failure
  • Restrictors and child safety devices against operational issues
  • Espagnolette mechanisms on sash windows

Hardware that gets used multiple times a day inevitably needs occasional adjustment over the years. The 2-year cover handles any premature failures, with replacement parts available beyond the guarantee period at standard cost.

FENSA certification

FENSA registration is a UK Government-authorised certification scheme that confirms replacement window installations meet current Building Regulations.

What FENSA gives you:

  • Certificate confirming Building Regulations compliance for the installation
  • Document that stays with the property through future house sales
  • Eliminates the need for separate Local Authority Building Control approval
  • Verified installer credentials with FENSA’s ongoing assessment
  • Protection against poor workmanship through FENSA’s complaints procedure

The FENSA certificate is often requested during conveyancing when you sell the property. Keep it with your house documents.

Window Guarantee FAQs

What guarantee comes with Homeefe windows?

Homeefe windows may include guarantees covering the frame, sealed glass units and operating hardware, depending on the product specification and installation package. Guarantee terms can vary by material, manufacturer and component, so the exact cover should always be confirmed in your written quote and guarantee documentation before the project begins.

What does the window guarantee cover?

A window guarantee may cover issues such as frame integrity, sealed glass unit failure, hardware faults and finish defects, depending on the product and guarantee terms. The specific cover, time periods, exclusions and claim process is set out clearly in your quotation, handover documents or manufacturer guarantee information.

Does the window guarantee transfer if I sell my house?

Some window guarantees can transfer with the property when you sell, but this depends on the guarantee provider and the terms of the cover. If transferability is important, it is best to check this before ordering so you know whether future homeowners will be able to benefit from the remaining guarantee period.

What is an Insurance-Backed Guarantee?

An Insurance-Backed Guarantee, often called an IBG, is designed to protect an installation guarantee if the original installer is no longer trading. It gives homeowners extra reassurance that eligible guarantee cover may still be supported by an insurance provider, subject to the terms and conditions of the policy.

What is FENSA certification?

FENSA certification confirms that a replacement window or door installation has been registered as compliant with relevant Building Regulations through the FENSA scheme. A FENSA certificate is often useful when selling a property because solicitors may ask for evidence that replacement glazing work was properly certified.

What is not covered by the window guarantee?

Window guarantees usually exclude issues such as accidental damage, misuse, unsuitable cleaning products, lack of basic maintenance, normal wear and tear, storm damage, building movement and damage caused by third-party work. The exact exclusions depend on the guarantee terms, so they should be checked carefully in your documentation.

How do I make a window guarantee claim?

To make a window guarantee claim, gather your order details, guarantee documents and clear photos of the issue. Homeefe can then review the issue and advise whether it falls within the terms of the guarantee, is maintenance-related, results from accidental damage, or has another cause. Where cover applies, the necessary repair or replacement will be arranged.

Does the window guarantee require ongoing maintenance?

Yes. Most window guarantees expect basic ongoing maintenance, such as regular cleaning, appropriate care products, checking seals, and keeping hinges, handles and locks working properly. Damage caused by neglect, misuse or unsuitable maintenance products may fall outside the guarantee, so following the care guidance is important.

Insurance-Backed Guarantee

The Insurance-Backed Guarantee (IBG) protects the manufacturer guarantee against the rare situation where the installation company stops trading. The IBG:

  • Covers the full guarantee period regardless of what happens to Homeefe
  • Transfers with the property so it stays valid if you sell
  • Doesn’t add cost since it’s included as standard
  • Backed by FCA-regulated insurance for full protection
  • Means the guarantee delivers genuine protection even in the worst-case scenario

An IBG provides valuable protection if the original installer ceases trading, helping to ensure your guarantee remains effective.

Consumer Rights Act 2015

Alongside manufacturer guarantees, your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 continue to apply. The Act covers:

  • Goods of satisfactory quality at the point of installation
  • Goods fit for purpose matching what you ordered
  • Goods as described in the original quote and contract
  • Services carried out with reasonable care and skill by the installer
  • Six-year window for claims in England, Wales and Northern Ireland (five years in Scotland)

Statutory rights apply alongside the manufacturer guarantee. Where the two overlap, the cover providing the highest level of protection applies.

What’s not covered by the guarantee

Like all manufacturer guarantees, the cover excludes certain types of damage:

  • Accidental damage from impact, dropped objects or physical force
  • Misuse including forcing handles or operating mechanisms incorrectly
  • Damage from unsuitable cleaning products like abrasive scourers or solvents
  • Damage from poor maintenance like missed seal inspections or unlubricated hardware
  • Normal wear and tear on cosmetic finishes from decades of use
  • Storm damage beyond the normal expected performance capability of the window
  • Damage from structural movement in the surrounding building

Most of these exclusions are common sense. We explain the full list during the quote stage so you’ll know exactly what is and isn’t covered before work begins.

How to make a guarantee claim

If an issue arises with your windows during the guarantee period, the process is straightforward:

  • Contact us with your order details and photos of the issue
  • We review whether the issue falls under guarantee, maintenance or accidental damage
  • If covered, we arrange the appropriate repair or replacement
  • No cost for guarantee-covered issues including labour and parts
  • Quick turnaround with most issues resolved within 2 to 4 weeks

Why window guarantees matter

A window project is one of the bigger investments most homeowners make. The guarantee turns that investment into a safer longer-term commitment:

  • Confidence in the product quality with cover backing the manufacturer’s claims
  • Protection against premature failure with no out-of-pocket cost
  • Property value protection with documented guarantees during house sales
  • Peace of mind knowing the installer remains accountable for years
  • Verified installer standards through FENSA registration and IBG protection

The guarantee is built into the value of your investment, not treated as an afterthought.
